World Suicide Prevention Day Celebration

Under the management of Banaskantha District Kelavani Mandal, the Department of Psychology of M.A. Parikh Fine Arts & Arts College, Palanpur, observed “World Suicide Prevention Day” on 10th September with the theme “Changing the Narrative on Suicide.”The program commenced with an introductory address by the Principal, Dr. Rameshkumar B. Patel, who in his presidential speech shared valuable insights with students regarding suicide prevention. He highlighted key aspects such as strengthening relationships with parents and reducing excessive use of social media to create awareness among students.Additionally, the college students presented their views on various topics including: the meaning of suicide, its causes, preventive measures, awareness through drama, suicide rates at global, national, and state levels, helpline organizations for suicide prevention, and psychological autopsy. These presentations effectively sensitized students toward the importance of suicide prevention.The entire program was organized under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Rameshkumar B. Patel, and coordinated by Dr. Shravan Kumar Kharani, faculty member of the Psychology Department. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sharadbhai Jani, also a faculty member of the Psychology Department.
